STUDY: DXA BONE MINERAL DENSITOMETRY

PROCEDURE: A bone mineral density test of the left proximal femur and AP lumbar spine was performed using the Lunar Prodigy Advance dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) system manufactured by GE Healthcare. The following summarizes the results of the evaluation with comparison to a database of a race, sex, and age-matched normal population (Z-score).

FINDINGS: The bone mineral density measured at the [] is [ ] gm/cm2 with a Z-score of [ ].

Note: For [] males younger than age 50, Z-scores are preferred, not T-scores. A Z-score of -2.0 or lower is defined as "below expected range for age" and a Z-score greater than -2.0 is "within the expected range for age."

Additional sites of evaluation, Z-scores, and trending data can be found in the PACS accessed through Web Centricity.

IMPRESSION: The bone mineral density is [within] [below] the expected range for age.

There has been a [ ]% change in bone density (based on lumbar spine measurements) and a [+/- ]% change (based on total femur measurements) ]when compared to a previous study performed on [ ]. These changes [are/are not or is/is not- individualize changes if discordant] statistically significant with 95% confidence.
