CT Upper Extremity

Technique: Multiplanar images of the left hand were obtained without the use of iodinated contrast.

Findings: There has been interval healing of the previously described comminuted fracture of the first metacarpal bone as evidenced by osseous remodeling and subtle periosteal reaction when compared prior CT. There has been no significant change in fracture fragment alignment. Osseous alignment of the first digit is maintained. The first carpometacarpal joint space is preserved.

No additional osseous injuries are identified. The visualized joint spaces are preserved without significant degenerative change. There are no aggressive appearing osseous lesions. The soft tissues are unremarkable.

Impression: Healing comminuted first metacarpal fracture without change in fracture fragment alignment or orientation. The first carpometacarpal joint space is preserved.
