CT Abd Epiploic Appendagitis
The appendix is well-visualized demonstrate no evidence of inflammation. There is oval fat density adjacent to the cecum with minimal surrounding fat stranding (Se: 601, Im: 71). There is thickening of the bowel wall in the descending colon.
The liver, biliary system, pancreas, spleen, adrenals and left kidney demonstrate normal morphology and enhancement without mass lesions. Right kidney demonstrates upper pole cystic lesion measuring 1.9 x 2.1 x 1.7 cm, HU: 26, most likely representing simple cyst. Enteric contrast extends to the rectum. There is no evidence of free fluid or free air in the peritoneal cavity.
There is no lymphadenopathy. The bladder is normal. The remainder of the soft tissues and osseous structures are unremarkable.
IMPRESSION:
1. Findings above most likely represent epiploic appendagitis. Left colon bowel wall thickening which may indicate colitis (no significant diverticuli are noted). Recommend clinical correlation and if concern remains recommend direct visualization.
2. Right renal simple cyst.
3. Left lower lung nodule is not seen on this CT abdomen pelvis. A routine CT of the chest may be obtained as previously recommended.
